What is JAS Standard for Plywood

1. What is JAS 

JAS (JAPANESE AGRICULTURAL STANDARD)  is refer to product quality as well the system. JAS labeled product is a guarantee that the product have been produced under a controlled quality management system and meet the standards for dimension, visual and physicochemical.

  • Dimension requirements
  • Surface quality requirements
  • Bonding strength requirements (bonding & delamination)
  • Water content requirements
  • Requirements for bending strength → CP & SP
  • Formaldehyde emission requirementsOther requirements according to the standards of each product item

4. Formaldehype Emission requirement

  • F☆  : Avg 5.0 mg/L ; Max: 7.0 mg/L
  • F☆☆  : Avg 1.5 mg/L ; Max: 2.1 mg/L
  • F☆☆☆ : Avg 0.5 mg/L ; Max: 0.7 mg/L
  • F☆☆☆☆  : Avg 0.3 mg/L ; Max: 0.4 mg/l

6. Requirement of facilities

  • Production facilities, can produce continuously with a stable quality
  • QC facilities, with good accuracy, maintained and calibrated
  • Storage facilities, can maintain the quality of products that stored
  • Grading facility (Inspection and testing for decisions a lot of production)

7. Labeling

The product which passed the testing by the ROCB will be label as JAS product with the JAS logo
